NL Pennant Odds To Win
The 2010 National League playoffs begin on Wednesday but the Philadelphia Phillies are the clear favorites to win the NL Pennant.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have given the Phillies 5/6 odds to win while San Francisco has 3/1 odds, Cincinnati has 9/2 odds, and Atlanta has 5/1 odds.
The Phillies have the best record in all of Major League Baseball at 97-65. Philadelphia has won the last two national league championships and this year, the Phillies are 52-29 at home and 45-36 on the road. They won the NL East by six games over the Braves. Philadelphia opens play against Cincinnati on Wednesday.
San Francisco has not won the NLCS since 2002. The Giants took the NL West title by two games over San Diego, winning the season finale against the Padres to lock up the division. The Giants went 92-70 during the season with a 49-32 record at home and a 43-38 road record. The Giants open play against the Braves on Thursday.
Cincinnati won the NL Central by five games over the St. Louis Cardinals this year by going 91-17. The Reds are 49-32 at home and 42-39 on the road. Cincinnati has not won the NL Pennant since 1990.
Atlanta claimed the NL Wild Card by one game over the Padres. The Braves are 91-71 this year and were a league best 56-25 at home this season but just 35-46 on the road. Atlanta hasn’t won the NL Pennant since 1999.
