San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin
Scooter Gennett went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Sunday. Gennett plated the Giants' only run of the game when he lined a Merrill Kelly delivery through the right side of the infield in the sixth inning, scoring the runner on third. He also doubled off Kelly in the contest, picking up his third straight multi-hit game in the process. The 29-year-old got off to a rough start after missing the first three months of the season with a groin tear but he's performed better since joining the Giants at the trade deadline, hitting .288 with two homers and six RBI in 16 games. His fantasy value was tanked with the deal from the Reds to the Giants but Gennett could at least provide a solid batting average over the season's final few weeks
Chicago Cubs Fantasy Spin
Anthony Rizzo crushed a two-run homer on Sunday night, powering the Cubs to a 7-1 victory over the Pirates in the Little League Classic at the historic Bowman Field in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Rizzo blasted his two-run shot off of Chris Stratton in the fifth inning, increasing the Cubs' lead to 7-1. Rizzo also drew three walks in the ballgame, finishing the night 1-for-2 with a pair of runs scored. For the season, the 30-year-old slugger is now hitting .283/.395/.510 with 23 homers, 77 RBI and five stolen bases.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants are 16-7 in their last 23 road games and have won six of their last eight games overall.
Chicago
The Cubs are 5-1 in Cole Hamels’ last six home starts and are 37-16 in their last 53 games at Wrigley Field.
Prediction:
The under is 8-2-2 in the last 12 meetings in Chicago but I like the over tonight. The over is 11-4-2 in the Giants’ last 17 games following an off day and is 16-6-4 in their last 26 games versus National League Central opponents. On the other side, the over is 5-1-1 in the Cubs’ last seven games versus a team with a winning record and is 6-2 in Hamels’ last eight starts after scoring five runs or more in their previous game.
The Pick: Giants/Cubs OVER 10
