White drives in two in defeat
Houston fell by a count of 7-2 at Los Angeles as it dropped to 59-37 overall and 26-23 on the road. Tyler White led the Astros offense as he finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Yuli Gurriel went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Alex Bregman was 1-for-3 with two walks and a run scored. Hector Rondon took the loss as he surrendered six earned runs on five hits with one strikeout and one walk over two-thirds of an inning. Gerrit Cole draws the start today as he enters with a 9-5 record, 3.23 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 183 strikeouts over 122 1/3 innings.
Six-run first inning propels Angels
Los Angeles scored six runs in the first inning Tuesday night at home in a 7-2 victory over Houston. Albert Pujols helped lead the Angels offense as he ended the contest 1-for-4 with a double, a run and three RBIs. Luis Rengifo went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs. Shohei Ohtani finished 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Brian Goodwin finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Noe Ramirez picked up the win in relief as he allowed one hit with one strikeout and one walk over 1 1/3 innings. Felix Pena gets the start tonight for LA as he comes in with a 7-2 record, 4.32 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 86 strikeouts over 81 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Houston
The Astros are 41-16 in their last 57 games versus the AL West. Houston is 1-6 in its last seven Wednesday games.
Los Angeles
The Angels are 5-0 in their last five games versus the AL West. Los Angeles is 4-1 in the last five Pena home starts.
Prediction:
Los Angeles has been on a roll and now Pena gets his first start since pitching the final seven innings of the combined no-hitter against Seattle. While a matchup against Cole is tough and Mike Trout is questionable, I’m intrigued with taking a hot team behind a hot pitcher at home as a big underdog. I’m taking a shot at the Angels continuing their win streak here.
