SAM HOUSTON over New Mexico State by 6

Thanks to the Liberty vs. Kennesaw State game being rescheduled to Thursday night, New Mexico State and Sam Houston are the main event this Wednesday evening. CUSA? Yes. Winning records? No. At 1-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play, the Bearkats are tied with Kennesaw for last place in the league standings. New Mexico State ain’t much better, bringing a 2-4 / 1-1 record into the fray. However, the Aggies arrive in Huntsville off a much-needed bye week, during which they’ve schemed to exploit Sam Houston’s weak run defense. The Bearkats are strong against the pass, allowing just 137.8 yards per game, but give up 200.3 yards on the ground. That could open the door for Aggies running back James Jones, who is averaging 6.5 yards per carry. NMSU’s run defense yields only 125.5 rushing yards per game, so with Sam Houston averaging 95 yards on the ground, the Bearkats may need quarterback Landyn Locke to carry the offense. The Aggies have their own quarterback concerns: Trey Hedden has thrown five touchdown passes and six interceptions, while Adam Damante struggled in the loss to FIU. It’s tough to take a Sam Houston squad that’s scored just three points in each of their two conference losses, but we’re equally concerned about New Mexico State’s 1-4 SU/ATS and 0-5 ITS (In The Stats) mark versus FBS foes this season. We’ll take the points with the home dog.

Liberty over KENNESAW STATE by 16

Finally, a CUSA program with a winning record makes an appearance on your TV screen, and they’re looking for payback from cellar-dweller Kennesaw State. Last year, Liberty fell 48-43 to the Owls in three overtimes in its season finale. KSU went on to the CUSA championship game, where they topped Jacksonville State – while Liberty posted its first losing effort in 20 years and snapped a four-year bowl streak. But after losing this year’s season opener to powerful James Madison, the Flames have been rekindled by five consecutive wins. Liberty QB Deshawn Purdie has led the way, passing for 1,050 yards, 8 TDs, and no interceptions through six games. But while LU has caught fire, the Owls are clearly a team in search of their identity. They went from 2 wins in 2024 to 10 wins last season, the biggest leap of any FBS team, then immediately began a 1-5 regression to the norm in 2026. In KSU’s defense, their last three losses came by just 3, 1, and 3 points (Owls are one of only two FBS teams with three losses by three points or fewer this season). Yes, Kennesaw’s stop-unit defense has been better against non-Power 4 opponents, allowing 19.8 PPG in those matchups, but we see their luck running out tonight. Lay the lumber in a mismatch that could get real ugly, real fast.

James Madison over APPALACHIAN STATE by 3

For those of you who dream of pursuing a head-coaching career in college football, the blueprint for building and sustaining a winning program is on full display with the James Madison Dukes. Before engineering one of the greatest turnarounds in the sport’s history at Indiana, Curt Cignetti made his bones with a 52-9 record over five seasons with JMU. Next up, current UCLA head coach Bob Chesney took over for Cignetti in Harrisonburg and posted a 21-6 mark in two seasons. Fresh off his banishment from the Florida program, first-year head coach Billy Napier now rules over this collegiate power built on swagger, toughness, and sustained success. The Dukes of Hazard haven’t missed a beat in 2026: JMU is 7-0 and 4-0 in the Sun Belt. They have won 12 straight regular-season conference games and are 7-0 for the fifth time in program history. With a high-powered attack that averages 42.9 points, 461 yards of total offense, and 223.7 rushing yards per game, it’s easy to overlook a stout defense that allows just 16 PPG, with no opponent topping 24 points on the scoreboard. However, we think 4-2 Appalachian State could be laying in the weeds here. The Mountaineers have sold out 19 of their last 21 games at The Rock, including tonight’s fracas, and they arrive after rallying from a 10-point halftime deficit to beat Coastal Carolina last week, 35-32. In fact, every Mountaineer FBS game this year has been a one-score affair inside the final two minutes. ASU’s offense finally hit on all cylinders in its comeback victory, piling up 516 yards, including 253 on the ground – its best totals against an FBS opponent this season. A key turnover test also awaits, as the Dukes have thrown just one interception in seven games while App State’s defense has picked off nine passes in six games. Can’t quite call for the outright upset, but we will grab the points in what should be a closer-than-expected outcome in the high mountains.

      3-STAR BEST BET

MEMPHIS over East Carolina by 20

Memphis brings one of the American’s most explosive offenses into Thursday night after a turnover-filled stumble at Tulane. The Tigers’ turnover meltdown was historic by recent standards: six turnovers against the Green Wave, their most since a 2006 game against – wait for it – East Carolina. The 31-17 Tulane loss was also a red-zone frustration fest: Memphis reached the red zone on all five of its second-half drives but scored on only one. ECU also arrives off an incredibly frustrating finish. The Pirates led UAB 17-9 late in regulation, but the Blazers tied it with 35 seconds left, then won 30-17 in overtime. So, after that strange OT collapse, East Carolina now faces a second straight Thursday road game. Surprisingly, the Greenville Buccaneers lead the series, 18-8, have won the last three meetings, and are 8-2 outright in their last ten against Memphis. But the Tigers must be seeing red after their loss to the Greenies dropped them into a fourth-place tie in the American Conference race. With its schedule getting tougher by the week – Army, USF, and Navy are on deck – it’s now or never for first-year head coach Charles Huff and his Tigers. With Memphis looking to exact triple revenge against the Pirates and get back in the win column after blowing a three-game victory skein, we seal the deal with THE CLINCHER: East Carolina is 1-9 SU / 2-8 ATS as a dog of 6-plus points versus opponents that have revenge in the series.

Thought I’d share a below strategy with you. Hope it keeps working!

When the weekly Circa entry plays are released, I’ve been taking the dogs where matchup total selections are most close in numbers ( eg Bucs, Bears and/or Falcons, Titans, Cowboys and Commanders , if pick or
-1 / +1 lines often the lines fluctutate and dog vs fave changes so not the best for this basic “semi-system”! ) But take a look back from this season and see how it managed! You may want to give it a shot if not already doing a such. 7/7.5 point and occasional 10 point teases when lines have a hook (1/2).

SO AS YOU CAN SEE….YOU CAN EASILY USE THIS STRATEGY TO SELECT YOUR TEASER WINNERS. MIX UP A FEW COMBOS TO HELP COVER IN CASE OF A DEAD DOG CHOICE.

The Circa lines couldnt upload to this site.
Anyhow look them up at Circa

      SOME ADDED READING NOTES

NFL Week 6 Misleading Final Scores
The Seahawks out-gained the Broncos 353 to 168 yet lost 17-14. A Sam Darnold 3-0 turnover ratio plucked the birds.
The Colts out-gained the Titans 399 to 186 yet lost 26-20. A 3-1 turnover ratio and poor quarterback play shoed the Colts.
The Giants out-gained the Saints 461 to 319 yet lost 34-27. A 4-1 turnover ratio shortened the Gmen.
The Raiders out-gained the Bills 378 to 345 yet lost 33-30. Some of that was garbage time, but the 1-0 turnover ratio didn’t help.

      NFL Week 7 Betting Spots
      Let Down Spots:
The Steelers could be a little lazy at the Saints after the comeback vs the Bucs.
The Texans might be a little too happy with their win hosting the Giants.
The Cardinals could mail it in after their NFL ref win against the Rams hosting the Broncos.
The Chiefs could be feeling too good at Seattle after the division win vs the Chargers.

      Get Up Spots:
The Rams have do or die at the Raiders.
The Seahawks after Sam Darnold choke better get up for the Chiefs.
The Colts after the loss to the Titans better arise in Minnesota.
The Falcons after Bears loss better do something hosting the 49ers.
      Look Ahead Spots:
The Vikings could not take the Colts seriously looking to the Lions.
      Short Rest:
The Commanders after Monday Night hosting the Eagles.
The 49ers after Monday Night at the Falcons.
      Long Rest:
The Seahawks had a few extra days to think about their loss against the Broncos from Thursday to host the Chiefs.
The Broncos from Thursday night football at the Cardinals.
The Lions off the bye hosting the Packers.
The Bengals off the Bye at the Ravens.
The Dolphins off the bye at the Jets.
The Vikings off the bye hosting the Colts.

College football prediction: QB change causes Indiana-Michigan line to move

      LV REVIEW JOURNAL SUBSCRIPTION
      DAVE TULEY VSIN

I’ve applied my “dog or pass” philosophy to Saturday’s college football card, and here are my favorite underdogs of the day.

Sticking with our home-dog theme on Saturday, Michigan is hosting Indiana in the Big House. As I wrote in the introduction, I felt I should have won with Indiana against Ohio State last Saturday in the marquee matchup. I try not to have a knee-jerk reaction and bet against a team that let me down, but the Hoosiers are in a classic “anti-swagger spot” after having their 22-game winning streak snapped.

I still need Indiana to win the Big Ten title from my pick in the VSiN College Football Betting Guide, but I really believe this line is too high at more than a touchdown. The line has risen from 6½ to 7½, apparently because Michigan is turning to Tommy Carr, grandson of former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr, for his first career start in place of Bryce Underwood.

It’s dicey backing a quarterback in his first start, whether in college or the pros, but Carr replaced Underwood at halftime last Saturday and overcame a 3-0 deficit to lead the Wolverines to a 20-18 victory.

      Best bet: Michigan +7½

Last week, we backed BYU against No. 2 Notre Dame and cashed an outright upset. Let’s see if Pitt can give newly crowned No. 1 Miami a scare, though we’re not calling for the upset here.

Miami took over the top ranking after last week’s Top 10 carnage, but it wasn’t easy. The Hurricanes needed double overtime to outlast unranked Florida State 43-35. They’ve pretty much cruised through their other victories, with a 33-20 win at Wake Forest being the only other game they failed to win by more than this spread of three touchdowns. Still, we’ve seen that they don’t blow out everybody.

Pitt is no slouch at 5-2, even though quarterback Mason Heintschel, whom Miami tried to lure via the transfer portal in the offseason, is out for the season with a torn ACL. The Panthers have lost their past two games while trying to replace Heintschel, but I’m counting on coach Pat Narduzzi to have his team ready for this game.

Longtime handicapper and frequent VSiN guest Marc Lawrence points out that Narduzzi is 5-1 against the spread in revenge games. The Panthers lost to Miami last year, in addition to the recruiting-related bad blood between the programs. Lawrence also notes that Narduzzi is 8-1 against the spread in road games against undefeated teams.

      Best bet: Pittsburgh +20½

Back to the Big Ten, where Minnesota is a home underdog against Iowa. I’m 3-1 against the spread in Minnesota games this season. I’m 2-1 ATS backing the Golden Gophers as underdogs and 1-0 ATS fading them as favorites with Purdue in their last game two weeks ago, so I’ve watched Minnesota more over the past six weeks than the past six years.

I’m much more comfortable with the Golden Gophers in the underdog role, and we’re getting a full touchdown at home. Iowa enters at 5-1, with its only loss coming against Ohio State, but we successfully faded the Hawkeyes on Sept. 12 in their 16-13 win over Iowa State.

Minnesota can do the same thing here, with quarterback Drake Lindsey averaging 222½ passing yards per game and getting just enough support from the running game to keep defenses honest. Iowa is certainly improved offensively compared with recent seasons, but Minnesota’s defense should contain the Hawkeyes enough to keep this game within one score.

Lawrence also notes that the Golden Gophers are 5-0 ATS in their past five games as Big Ten underdogs.

      Best bet: Minnesota +7

So far my teaser plays are all looking good.
Don’t want to hex them but can’t resist.
With the added points, I’ll smile a bit more tonight.

New Orleans WIN (+2.5 the actual line- both sides winners in a teaser.)
      Miami ( 28-25 late in the 4th)
      Atlanta ( 26-20 in the 4th )
NY Giants (21-14 in the 4th)

Hope a bunch here tested this. Would be another teaser sweep.

New Orleans (WIN 10-16) +2.5 gametime line – dual side teaser winners.
      Miami ( WIN 28-25 )
      Atlanta ( WIN 29-20)
NY Giants WIN +points (21-21 now in OT)

      SWEEP!
