According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Mariana Pajon is the favorite to win the gold in this event, as she has +185 odds. Other short odds to win are Caroline Buchanan (+365) and Stefany Hernandez (+400). The Rio Olympics take place from August 5-21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Pajon competes for Colombia and is nicknamed “The Queen of BMX”. She won the gold medal in this event at the2012 Olympics and also was the 2014 and 2011 World Champion in this race as well.
Buchanan competes for Australia. She reached the finals of the 2012 Olympics, but didn’t medal. She is coming into this Olympics having placed second at the 2016 UCI BMX World Championships.
Hernandez competes for Venezuela. She competed at the 2012 Olympics as well, but didn’t make the final heat. She won the 2015 BMX World Championship last July in Belgium.
