According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Dafne Schippers is favored to win this race, as she has +155 odds. Other short odds to win are Elaine Thompson (+225), Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce (+450) and Tori Bowie (+450). The Rio Olympics take place from August 5-21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Schippers competes for the Netherlands. She competed in the 2012 Olympics, but not in this event. She has since finished second at the 2015 World Championships in the event and first in the 2016 World Championships. Her top time in this race is 10.81.
Thompson competes for Jamaica. She is also a 200-meter sprinter and has had more success in that event. She has yet to medal in this event on the World stage, but was part of the winning 4×100-meter relay team at the 2015 World Championships. Her top time in the 100-meter dash was 10.70.
Pryce competes for Jamaica. She has won the gold medal in this event in the last two Olympic Games. She also is the 2013 and 2015 World Champion in the 100-meter dash. Her top time in this event was 10.70.
Bowie competes for the United States. She is competing in her first Olympic Games. She placed third at the 2015 World Championships and her time in this event was 10.80.
