Froome staying on top
It was a somber day for the Tour de France following Thursday’s attack in France, but the event continued on.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Chris Froome continues to improve his chances to win, as he now has -900 odds to prevail. Other short odds to win are Nairo Quintana (+1100) and Bauke Mollema (+1600). Stage 14 of the Tour takes place on Saturday. It is a 129-mile flat stage that runs from Monteimar to Villars-les-Dombres Parc des Oiseaux.
Stage 13 on Friday was the first time trial and Froome finished second, 1:03 behind Tom Dumoulin of the Netherlands. Quintana finished 20th on Friday, 3:08 behind the leader, while Mollema was sixth, 1:54 out of first.
Froome now has extended his lead to 1:47 in the overall standings. He has a time of 58:02:51 for the event. Mollema, of the Netherlands, is in second right now while Britain’s Adam Yates is in third, 2:45 out of first. Quintana is sitting in fourth place, 2:59 behind Froome.
