Froome remains Tour favorite
The Tour de France has had an eventful weekend, but Chris Froome has only strengthened his odds to win the championship.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Froome is now a -150 to win the Tour de France this year. Other short odds to win are Nairo Quintana (+135) and Richie Porte (+2500). Monday marks the first rest day of the Tour this year. State 10 takes place on Tuesday and is a 122-mile mountain course from Escaldes-Engordany to Revel.
Stage 9 saw Tom Dumoulin of the Netherlands grab the win. He finished 38 seconds ahead of Rui Costa of Portugal. Froome came in 11th place, 6:35 behind the winner, while Quintana was in 11th place and Porte came in 13th.
Froome has the overall lead entering this week of action. He has a 16-second advantage on Adam Yates of Britain. Quintana is in fourth, 23 seconds back, while Porte is 14th, 2:10 behind Froome. One interesting note is that two-time champion Alberto Contador pulled out of the event on Sunday due to a fever. He had been setback early in the event by a pair of crashes.
