Myers finally got the Padres on the scoreboard in this one with his 376-foot solo shot off of Dodgers southpaw Julio Urías in the fifth inning. He came to the plate in a huge spot in the sixth inning — with two runners on and one out and the Padres trailing by a pair — and he hit a rocket to second base that unfortunately turned into an inning-ending, rally-killing double play on a nifty turn by Gavin Lux and Trea Turner. With Clayton Kershaw taking the hill for the Dodgers in Game 2 on Wednesday, expect that Myers will draw another start at first base.

Trea Turner went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run on Tuesday as the Dodgers triumphed over the Padres 5-3 in Game 1 of the NLDS in Los Angeles. Turner got the Dodgers on the scoreboard in a hurry, crushing a 1-1 offering from Mike Clevinger for a 419-foot shot in the first inning. He also led off the third inning with a double and dashed around to score on a run-scoring double off the bat of Will Smith. The 29-year-old superstar — and impending free agent — has already matched his total number of extra-base hits from the 2021 postseason (two in 53 plate appearances).
