The over/under total for the game has been set at 49 points (View Matchup). The opening odds for this game had New Orleans favored by 10.5 points. The spread hit a high of 11.5 points before falling back to 10. The over/under total opened at 51 points and slowly worked down to 49.
The Saints fell to 0-2 on the season after losing 26-24 to the Browns in Cleveland. New Orleans is moving the ball just fine, averaging well over 400 yards per game. The issue is on defense, where the Saints are giving up nearly 450 yards per game, including a league-worst 323.5 passing yards per game. Drew Brees has thrown for 570 yards and three touchdowns and Jimmy Graham has caught 18 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns.
Minnesota is coming off a rough week that ended in a 30-7 loss at home to the Patriots. This week hasn’t gone much better, as Adrian Peterson has been barred from the team indefinitely while dealing with child abuse charges. The Vikings were held to 217 yards of offense in the loss, including only 54 rushing yards. The defense didn’t play too poorly, holding the Pats to 292 yards. Matt Cassel was 19 of 36 passing for 202 yards in the loss and had four interceptions. Matt Asiata, who is now the starting running back, had just 36 rushing yards on 13 carries to lead the team.
In terms of Injuries, New Orleans defensive back Marcus Ball (hamstring) is questionable for the game while running back Mark Ingram (hand) is out indefinitely with a hand injury. Minnesota receiver Rodney Smith (hamstring) and linebacker Brandon Watts (knee) are both questionable.
