Bears vs. 49ers Odds
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (The Spread) – The Chicago Bears are banged up and facing a tough road test today, as they meet the San Francisco 49ers tonight at 8:30PM ET on NBC.
Chicago suffered a surprising 23-20 OT loss at home to Buffalo despite being a 7-point favorite coming into the game. San Francisco earned a 28-17 win at Dallas last Sunday, covering the 3.5-point spread. The home team has won 10 straight in this series.
Trends show that the home team has covered the spread in six of the last seven between these two teams. The Bears are also 1-4 against the spread in their last 5 after a loss while the 49ers are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games in September.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, San Francisco is favored at home, as the 49ers are getting odds of -7 points against the Bears. The over/under total for the game has been set at 47.5 points (View Matchup). The opening odds for this game had the 49ers favored by 7.5 points, but the spread dipped to 7 and held there. The over/under total opened at 48 points before hitting a peak of 48.5. It then dropped to 47.5.
Chicago took a surprising loss last week and the Bears aren’t getting any better news this week, as stud receivers Brandon Marshall (ankle) and Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) are both game-time decisions tonight with injuries. The Bears had 427 yards of offense in last Sunday’s loss, but also had three turnovers. Buffalo amassed 360 yards on the Chicago defense, including 193 rushing yards. Jay Cutler went 34 of 49 passing for 349 yards and two touchdowns in the loss while Matt Forte rushed for 82 yards and caught eight passes for 87 yards.
San Francisco is coming off a 28-17 win over the Cowboys on Sunday. The 49ers didn’t have great stats, but they didn’t need them, scoring 21 points in the first quarter thanks to some Dallas turnovers. San Francisco finished with just 319 yards of offense while allowing 382 yards to Dallas, but forcing four turnovers. Colin Kaepernick was 16 of 23 passing for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Both scores went to Vernon Davis while Anquan Boldin caught eight passes for 99 yards. Justin Smith led the defense with two sacks.
In terms of Injuries, Chicago fullback Tony Fiammetta (hamstring) and center Roberto Garza (ankle) are both out for this game. San Francisco safety Jimmie Ward (concussion) and tackle Anthony Davis (hamstring) are both questionable.
