(TheSpread) – The East Region of the 2012 NCAA Tournament features two clear favorites in Syracuse and Ohio State. Here is a look at the odds for this region.

According to oddsmakers, Syracuse is the slight favorite to win this region with 8/5 odds while Ohio State has 9/5 odds. Other short odds to win the region are Wisconsin (8/1), and Vanderbilt (8/1).

Syracuse is the top seed in the region. The Orange are 31-2 on the season after winning the Big East regular season title. The Orange have made the Final Four four times in program history, the last coming in 2003.

Ohio State is the No. 2 seed in this region. The Buckeyes are 27-7 on the season and won a share of the Big Ten regular season title. The Buckeyes have made the Final Four 10 times in program history, the last time coming in 2007.

Wisconsin is the No. 4 seed in the East. The Badgers were 24-9 on the regular season but didn’t factor into the Big Ten race. The Badgers have advanced to the Final Four twice, the last of which came in 2000.

Vanderbilt is the 5th seed in the East with a 24-10 overall record. The Commodores won the SEC Tournament. Vanderbilt has never advanced to a Final Four in program history and last reached a regional championship game in 1965.
