2010 March Madness East Regional Betting Recap – WVU Pays Out 2/1

It wasn’t a major surprise to see West Virginia win the East Regional and advance to the 2010 Final Four but the Mountaineers still weren’t the favorites to do so.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com, West Virginia had 2/1 odds to reach the Final Four meaning at $100 bet on West Virginia will pay out an additional $200.

The Mountaineers entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed in the East. WVU made quick work of No. 15 Morgan State in the opener, winning 77-50. WVU followed that up with a 68-59 win over No. 10 Missouri and a 69-56 win over No. 11 Washington.

The regional championship was a 73-66 win over No. 1 Kentucky. The Mountaineers didn’t make a two-point field goal in the first half but finished the game with 10 3-pointers while the Wildcats were a dismal 4-of-32 from beyond the arc. WVU forced Kentucky into 16 turnovers to get the victory. Joe Mazzulla had 17 points to lead the Mountaineers while DaSean Butler had 18 points and six rebounds and Kevin Jones added 13 points and eight rebounds.
