Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL have made Kentucky 4-point favorites over West Virginia on Saturday night. The over/under for the game has been set at 134.
Kentucky is looking to reach its first Final Four since 1998. It would be the school’s 14th Final Four in program history. The Wildcats have won their last eight games including the 62-45 win over Cornell on Thursday night. Kentucky dominated the Big Red as it held them to 33 percent shooting from the floor and 23 percent from 3-point land. Kentucky also forced Cornell into 15 turnovers. DeMarcus Cousins had 16 points and seven rebounds to lead Kentucky while Eric Bledsoe had 12 points and Patrick Patterson had nine points with 12 rebounds.
West Virginia is seeking just its second Final Four in school history. The first and only came in 1959. The Mountaineers have won their last nine games, including a 69-56 win over Washington on Thursday night. The Mountaineers trailed by two at halftime, but outscored the Huskies 42-27 in the second half. WVU forced Washington into 21 turnovers and 39 percent shooting. Kevin Jones led the Mountaineers with 18 points and eight rebounds while Da’Sean Butler had 14 points and seven rebounds, and Devin Ebanks had 12 points with seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
As good as West Virginia has looked in the tournament, Kentucky has looked even better. The Wildcats just have more overall talent and it will take a great game plan and great execution from the Mountaineers to win. While the game should stay close, a few late free throws should be enough for the Wildcats to cover the 4-point spread.
