Ohio State Tourny Odds
If any team has emerged as a late candidate to win the 2010 NCAA Championship, it has to be the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Head coach Thad Matta is leading the Buckyes to it fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in five seasons with the lone shortcoming still leading to a NIT Championship. This year, the Buckeyes are 26-7 overall and 14-4 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes won a share of the regular season conference title and will face Minnesota in the Big Ten Tournament championship on Sunday.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL have given Ohio State 15/1 odds to win the NCAA Tournament and the Buckeyes opened with 7/4 odds to win the Big Ten Tournament. Junior guard Evan Turner has been listed with 7/4 odds of winning the 2010 John Wooden Award.
The Buckeyes have won their last six games, including a double overtime win over Illinois on Saturday and a 1-point win over Michigan on Friday where Turner hit a 37-footer at the buzzer for the victory. Ohio State holds five wins over ranked opponents this season and OSU has won 12 of its last 13 games. Ohio State has not lost more than two-straight games this season.
Ohio State is averaging 73.3 points per-game on the year, ranking second in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes also rank second in scoring defense, allowing just 60.6 points per-game. OSU leads the conference in field goal percentage at 49.4, but rank 10th at the free throw line at 69 percent.
Turner has missed six games this season due to injury, but the junior still averages 19.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists per-game. Turner shoots 53.3 percent from the field and 73 percent from the free throw line. Assisting Turner and OSU has been guard William Buford, who averages 14.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per-game. Jon Diebler and David Lighty each are scoring over 12.5 points per-game. Diebler also shoots 85.9 percent from the free throw line.
