Unlike most conference tournaments, the 2010 Big West Tournament heavily favors its top teams from the regular season.

The 8-team tournament begins play today from the Anaheim Convention Center Arena in

Anaheim,
California. Two games are played on Wednesday with the 5-8 seeds battling it out. The two winners go on to face the 3 and 4 seed respectively on Thursday and then those two winners meet the top two seeds in the semifinals on Friday with the championship game on Saturday.

Despite being the No. 2 seed, Pacific has been deemed the favorite to win the tournament title.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have made Pacific a 1/1 favorite to win the Big West Tournament. Other short odds to win are UC-Santa Barbara (19/10) and

Long Beach
State (7/2).

Pacific has won four tournament titles with the last coming in 2006. The Tigers are 20-10 on the year and 12-4 in the Big West, which tied for first. Pacific lost both meetings with UCSB and lost four games in the month of February. Pacific ended its regular season with three-straight wins.

UC-Santa Barbara has won one tournament title, which came in 2002. The Gauchos are 18-9 on the year and 12-4 in the Big West. They will be the No. 1 seed in the tournament. The Gauchos have won seven of their last eight games.

Long Beach
State has won four tournament titles, with the last coming in 2007. The 49ers are 15-15 on the year and 8-8 in conference play, earning the No. 3 seed. The 49ers have failed to win more than two-straight games this season, but ended the season winning three of their last four.
