The 2010 Conference USA Tournament begins play Wednesday from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma and one of the local teams is favored to win.

The 12-team tournament features four games in the opening round on Wednesday and those winners meet the top four seeds in the quarterfinals on Thursday. The title game will be play on Saturday.
Despite previous dominance from Memphis, Texas El-Paso is favored to win this year’s tournament as it has the No. 1 seed.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have given UTEP (7/4) odds to win. Other short odds to win are Memphis (5/2), Tulsa (7/2), and UAB (11/2).
UTEP has never won or appeared in the finals of this tournament, but the Miners broke out this season with a 24-5 record and a 15-1 conference record. Currently ranked 24th, the Miners lone conference loss came against Houston. UTEP ended the regular season by winning 14-straight games.
Memphis has won the last four conference tournaments, but had to vacate the 2008 title due to playing with an ineligible player. The Tigers lost coach John Calipari to Kentucky, but still put together a 23-8 season this year while going 13-3 in Conference USA to earn the No. 2 seed in the tournament. The Tigers lost to Houston, UTEP, and SMU in conference play but won seven of their last eight games to end the regular season.
Tulsa has never won this tournament but reached the finals the last two years. The Golden Hurricanes are 21-10 on the year and 10-6 in conference play to earn the No. 5 seed, but Tulsa will have the hometown edge. The Golden Hurricanes lost five of their last seven to end the regular season.
UAB has not won this conference tournament but appeared in two championship games. The Blazers are 23-7 on the year and 11-5 in conference, giving them the No. 3 seed. UAB lost to UTEP and Memphis to end its regular season, which snapped a four-game winning streak.
