The West Coast Conference has been dominated by Gonzaga over the last decade, and the Bulldogs find themselves as favorites to win this year’s conference tournament.

The 2010 West Coast Conference Tournament begins Friday and will take place from the Orleans Arena in

Las Vegas,
Nevada. The tournament has a field of eight teams.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have made Gonzaga a 2/5 favorite to win the West Coast Conference Tournament. Other short odds to win are Saint Mary’s (5/2), and

Portland (6/1).

Gonzaga has won 10 WCC Tournaments in its 22 years of existence. The Bulldogs have won five of the last six tournaments, including last year’s, which was held from the same location. Gonzaga is currently ranked 18^th in the nation with a 25-5 record and a 12-2 mark in the WCC. The conference losses came against

San Francisco and Loyola Marymount.

Saint Mary’s only WCC Tournament win came in 1997. They are currently 24-5 on the season and 11-3 in the WCC. They have an outside shot at reaching the NCAA Tournament with an at-large bid, but could use the tournament victory to lock themselves in the big dance. Saint Mary’s has lost twice to Gonzaga and also to

Portland.

Portland’s only WCC Tournament win came in 1996. The Pilots are 20-9 on the season and 10-4 in the WCC.

Portland has two conference losses to Gonzaga and also losses to Saint Mary’s and Loyola Marymount.
