UFC 121: Lesnar vs. Velasquez takes place Saturday, October 23 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, Califorinia and features a bout for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. Saturday’s main card, which will air live on PPV at 10PM ET has five featured bouts and oddsmakers have released the betting lines for the fights. The main event of Saturday’s card is for the UFC Heavyweight Championship as Brock Lesnar (5-1) defends his title against Cain Velasquez (8-0). Lesnar enters the fight as the favorite according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BroburySports.com with a betting line of -145 while Velasquez comes in at +115. Lesnar is defending his title for his third time after beating Shane Carwin at UFC 116. In that bout, Carwin nearly finished Lesnar in the first round but survived a beat down and then submitted a fatigued Carwin in round two. Velasquez has gone 8-0 in his career, with seven wins coming by TKO. Velasquez has solid striking and is also an All-American wrestler from his days at Arizona State. Velasquez seeks to become the first Mexican to win the UFC Heavyweight Championship. Shields makes his UFC debut The co-main event of Saturday’s card is a welterweight contests between Jake Shields (25-4-1) and Martin Kampmann (17-3). Shields was the Strikeforce Middleweight Champion and Elite XC Welterweight Champion in his career but now heads into the UFC riding a 14-fight winning streak. Shields is a submission and grappling specialist, but his striking could use some work. Kampmann comes into the fight have won two straight and he is a good all-around fighter that has power in his hands and can grapple with the best of them. Kampmann has only struggled in his career with bigger, powerful strikers, but faired well against grapplers. Shields is favored to win with a line of -260 while Kampmann has a line of +200.
