Silva stops Fedor
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (TheSpread) – Despite being a huge under dog, Antonio Silva managed to earn a second round TKO win over Fedor Emelianenko on Saturday as part of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix.
After a competitive first round, Silva dominated round two with takedowns and ground-and-pound strikes. Silva landed big shots that cut open the former Pride champion and forced his eye to swell shut. Following the end of the second round, the referee stopped the fight due to the eye injury.
Silva entered the fight with betting odds of +350 according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com which means a $100 wager on Silva will pay out an additional $350.
In the other Grand Prix bout on Saturday, Sergei Kharitonov defeated former UFC champion, Andrei Arlovski, with a KO in round one. Kharitonov landed some big punches that sent Arlovski to the ground and then followed up with clubbing rights and lefts that knocked Arlovski out midway through the round.
Kharitonov had betting odds of -130 for the fight meaning a $130 bet on him will pay out an additional $100.
