Georgia Southern Eagles Game Notes
Davis Brin completed 24 of 34 passes for 238 yards and three interceptions during Saturday’s 55-27 defeat against Appalachian State.
Brin had a game to forget Saturday, failing to tally a single touchdown while throwing three interceptions. He’ll finish the regular season with 3,431 passing yards and a 22:16 TD:INT and will look to cap off the 2023 campaign with a better performance in Georgia Southern’s bowl game next month.
Ohio Bobcats Game Notes
Parker Navarro was named the starting quarterback for Ohio’s bowl game Saturday against Georgia Southern, the team’s X account reports.
Kurtis Rourke was Ohio’s starting quarterback for most of 2023 but has entered the transfer portal. Without him available, Navarro will be promoted to starter. He has 10 completions and 10 carries for 172 scrimmage yards (65 passing and 107 rushing) and two touchdowns (both passing) logged across his three games this year.
Georgia Southern vs. Ohio Betting Trends
The total has gone OVER in 4 of Georgia Southern’s last 6 games
Georgia Southern is 1-4 SU in its last 5 games
Ohio is 9-2 SU in its last 11 games
The total has gone UNDER in 9 of Ohio’s last 12 games
Georgia Southern vs. Ohio Betting Prediction
Take the under. As noted above, Ohio will be without its starting quarterback after Rourke decided to enter the transfer portal. The Bobcats were also an under-covering machine this season, cashing the under in nine out of their 12 games overall. The Eagles, meanwhile, played in plenty of high-scoring game down the stretch but that has more to do with the nature of the Sun Belt Conference than anything else. Given the amount of opt outs in this one, I see the under as the best bet.
Georgia Southern vs. Ohio Prediction: UNDER 48.5
