For those ready that were ready for the Joe Webb era to get kicked off tonight in Minnesota may have to wait a while longer because it appears as though Brett Favre may play. The Vikings host the Bears at TCF Bank Stadium on Monday Night Football at 8:30PM ET.
According to current Week 15 NFL odds and oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, the Bears are 7-point favorites over the Vikings on Monday Night Football. Those odds may change, however, because Brett Favre has been upgraded from out to questionable with a shoulder injury. If he plays, the line will certainly drop – maybe even as low as 3 or 4 points.
The over/under total is also interesting because it’s 33.5, which is the lowest total of the season. The low number is due to the possibility that Minnesota could get as much as six inches of snow tonight and the field isn’t heated like other outdoor NFL stadiums because, well, it’s not a NFL stadium. It’s a college football stadium.
But back to Favre. He’ll apparently test out his shoulder 2.5 hours before the game to see if he can work through the pain. If he can, Webb will find his way back to the bench and Favre will take on the Bears’ ferocious front four, led by Julius Peppers. And you know Favre would love to have one last chance at Monday Night Football magic, so don’t rule the possibility of him playing.
But even if he doesn’t play, this doesn’t hurt the Vikings, who must have sent the Bears into a tailspin with this news. Webb and Favre couldn’t be further apart in terms of talent and experience, so now Chicago has to prepare for two quarterbacks at the last hour.
Oh, and they can win the NFC North with a victory tonight. Nothing like facing some unpredictability with so much on the line.
