Blues favored to win West
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – The post-Olympic schedule kicks off tonight in the NHL so let’s take a look at the updated odds to win the Western Conference in 2014.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Blues are favored to win the Western Conference at 11/4 odds, while the Blackhawks are 13/4 and the Ducks are 7/2. The Sharks, meanwhile, are 11/2, while the Kings are 8/1 and the Avalanche are 10/1.
Continuing with the odds, the Canucks are 20/1 to win the Western Conference in 2014 while the Wild are 22/1 and the Coyotes are 28/1. The Stars are 40/1, the Jets are 50/1, and the Predators have the longest odds to win conference at 100/1.
The Blues have the best point differential in the Western Conference at +61 and the next closest team in that regard is the Ducks at +49. The Blackhawks, meanwhile, are +44 while the Sharks are +33 and the Avalanche are +21. The Kings are the only other team in the conference with a plus point differential of +11. The rest of the eight teams in the West either have an even or negative point differential, which is one of the better factors in determining how good a team actually is.
St. Louis also has the best odds to win the Stanley Cup this year at 11/2, while the Blackhawks are 6/1 and the Ducks are 7/1. The Sharks, meanwhile, are 10/1, the Kings are 18/1 and the Aves are 22/1.
