(The Spread) -There are six games on the NHL schedule Sunday including a battle on NBC between the Philadelphia Flyers and the host New York Rangers.
Philadelphia (40-18-6) is currently atop the Eastern Conference standings and tied for second for the NHL’s best record. The Rangers (34-29-4) are sitting in the seventh spot of the Eastern Conference. The contest starts at 12:30PM EST.
Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Flyers -120 favorites in the contest, while the over-under sits at 5.5. According to the latest trends, Philadelphia is 14-3 against the spread versus division opponents this season. The Flyers are 9-7 against the spread versus the New York Rangers over the last three seasons.
Philadelphia is attempting to put a stop to a three-game losing streak with the last defeat being a 5-3 loss Saturday at home against Buffalo. The Rangers ended their own three-game losing streak by topping host Ottawa 4-1 on Friday.
Brandon Dubisnky paces New York with 19 goals and 24 assists, while Claude Giroux leads Philadelphia with totals of 21 goals and 38 assists.
In other NHL action, the red-hot New Jersey Devils travel to the New York Islanders for a 3:00PM EST start. The Devils are -135 favorites and the over-under is 5. Vancouver is at Anaheim for an 8:00PM EST showdown. The Canucks are -130 favorites, while the over-under is 5.5. Florida is at home to face the Washington Capitals. Washington is a -165 favorite and the over-under is 5.5.
