Blackhawks shut out at Flyers

Chicago fell 4-0 Saturday at Philadelphia for its seventh consecutive defeat. The Flyers scored once each in the first and second periods, then put it away with a pair of third-period scores. The Blackhawks fell to 6-8-3 with the loss. Chicago registered 33 shots on goal in the contest, but none found the back of the net. Patrick Kane and Brent Seabrook led the way with four shots apiece. Corey Crawford suffered the loss in net as he surrendered three goals on 24 shots.

Hurricanes fall at home to Wings

Carolina lost for the sixth time in seven games with a 4-3 home shootout loss to Detroit Saturday night. The only victory in that span was a 4-3 victory at Chicago the previous game. Brock McGinn, Micheal Ferland and Dougie Hamilton scored the goals for the Hurricanes. Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen each dished out two assists. Scott Darling made 29 saves on 32 shots to take the loss. Carolina led 3-1 heading into the third period, but was unable to hold on.

NHL Betting Trends

Chicago

The Blackhawks are 1-12 in their last 13 Monday games. Chicago is 2-5 in the last seven meetings.

Carolina

The under is 3-1-2 in the last six meetings in Carolina. The Hurricanes are 7-3-1 in their last 11 home games versus the Blackhawks.

Prediction:

Both of these teams are in struggle mode, so I see some value in taking the underdog. Chicago arguably has more talent on its roster and a more accomplished starting goaltender in Crawford. The Blackhawks have to win again eventually. Why not tonight against a team playing almost as bad hockey?
