Capitals Sign Tomas Vokoun
WASHINGTON (AP) – Washington Capitals general manager George McPhee says he thought he was done making offers to free agents – until the chance to get Tomas Vokoun came along.

McPhee said Sunday he was prepared to go with youngsters Michal Neuvirth and Braden Holtby in net next season. Then he learned that Vokoun was willing to forego a big contract to play for a Stanley Cup contender.
The Capitals signed Vokoun to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million Saturday.
McPhee said Vokoun’s experience would make him the natural No. 1 goalie going into training camp, but the veteran will still have to compete for the job with Neuvirth. Holtby is again expected to spend much of the season in the AHL.
