Hofer destroyed by Colorado
Joel Hofer allowed five goals on 36 shots in Friday’s 5-0 loss to the Avalanche. Hofer ended January on a sour note, giving up four of the five goals in the first period. That meant the Blues never really stood a chance, though they didn’t make much of an effort at a comeback, totaling just 19 shots on net for the game. Hofer went 2-3-0 with 17 goals allowed over six outings (five starts) in January, and he’s now 10-6-1 with a 2.87 GAA and a .903 save percentage over 19 appearances. Jordan Binnington isn’t exactly dominating the crease, but Hofer’s inconsistent play makes him a risky option in fantasy. The Blues wrap up this two-game road trip in Utah on Sunday.
Ingram draws start on Sunday
Connor Ingram will patrol the home crease against St. Louis on Sunday, according to Brogan Houston of Deseret News Sports. Ingram is coming off a 26-save effort in Wednesday’s 3-2 overtime loss to Pittsburgh. He has posted a record of 8-6-4 with a 3.31 GAA and an .881 save percentage through 18 appearances this season. St. Louis sits 27th in the league with 2.69 goals per game in 2024-25.
Blues vs. Utah Hockey Club Betting Prediction
I faded the Blues on the puckline on Friday night in Colorado and it worked out well. Given the price on Utah tonight, I don’t have to worry about fading St. Louis again while laying the 1.5. I’ll just take the Hockey Club on the moneyline. Utah already has a pair of 4-2 victories over the Blues this season. The first meeting was at Enterprise Center in early November and the second game came in Utah on January 18. In both instances, the Hockey Club were slight moneyline favorites. The Blues have lost four straight games and five out of their last six overall. In those five games, they were held to two or fewer goals and were shutout twice. Even though Utah has its own four-game losing streak cooking, I’m still going to back the home side tonight.
