ASHBURN, Va. (AP) – Scot McCloughan is going to try to instill a trait not usually associated with the Washington Redskins: patience.
The Redskins’ new general manager spoke Friday at what has become a seemingly annual rite of passage – the big offseason news conference that is supposed to signal a turnaround.
The Redskins under owner Dan Snyder are well-known for seeking quick-fixes, but McCloughan believes in building through the draft, calling it the ”lifeline” of the team. He said Snyder’s history of impatience came up during his six-hour interview with Snyder and team president Bruce Allen at the owner’s house.
Said McCloughan: ”They understand where I’m coming from.”
The Redskins went 4-12 this season.
