Redskins vs. Panthers Spread Prediction
The Washington Redskins opened as favorites to beat the Carolina Panthers but the line has jumped the fence ahead of Sunday’s 1:00 p.m. kickoff. Will Cam Newton and Co. prevail?
Game Snapshot
257 Carolina Panthers at 258 Washington Redskins

Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Panthers are 1-point favorites to beat the Redskins. The total, meanwhile, sits at 44.5 points. As of this writing, 62% of the public betting tickets are on the Panthers to cover the point spread.
Carolina Panthers
NFL Network’s Tiffany Blackmon reports Greg Olsen (foot) will play in Week 6 against the Redskins. This backs up Ron Rivera’s comments on Olsen’s status. Olsen hasn’t had any setbacks and remains on track to start after missing the last three games. He’s a huge setback risk, but Olsen is a back-end TE1 for Week 6.
Washington Redskins
Adrian Peterson (questionable, ankle/knee/shoulder) is expected to play Week 6 against the Panthers. Peterson is all kinds of banged up, but the 33-year-old plans to tough it out against Carolina. He should play a full complement of snaps including most passing downs with sidekick Chris Thompson (questionable, knee/rib) a long shot to play. Kapri Bibbs will handle change-of-pace duties with Thompson sidelined.
NFL Betting Trends
Carolina
The Panthers are a perfect 4-0 against the spread in their last four games versus the Redskins.
Washington
The Redskins are just 1-5 against the number in their last six home games versus the Panthers.
Prediction
That was a pathetic performance by the Redskins on Monday night in New Orleans. While all the attention was deservedly and rightfully on Drew Brees that night, the thing that not many people discussed was how unprepared Washington was despite having two full weeks to prepare for New Orleans’ offense. Alex Smith was constantly harassed throughout the night and in typical Alex Smith fashion, he checked the ball down consistently. The Panthers are 3-1, are coming off their bye, and the line jumped the fence, indicating some sharp money on Carolina. I’ll take the road team.
NFL Week 6 Prediction: Carolina Panthers -1
