Five Best NFL Teams Against Spread
We’re nearly through all of the Week 8 games in the NFL and with the contenders starting to separate from the pretenders, which teams have been best at the betting window?
Here are the five best NFL teams against the spread this season:
Buffalo Bills
Who would have thought that the Bills would be 5-2 and in second place in the AFC East at the midway point in the NFL season? Well, they are, and they’ve also been a great at the betting window. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Bills were a 3-point home favorite on Sunday versus the visiting Raiders. Following their 34-14 victory over Oakland, Buffalo is now 5-1-1 against the spread, which is the best ATS winning percentage in the NFL.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles are the best team in the NFC right now and the best NFC team against the spread as well. In what could have been a letdown game on Sunday, the Eagles rolled over the 49ers as a 13-point home favorite, covering for the sixth time this season. Philadelphia is 7-1 straight up, 6-2 against the spread, owns a quarterback worthy of being in the MVP discussion and a nasty defense to boot. While injuries are starting to pile up, the Eagles look like a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
Houston Texans
How fun is Deshaun Watson to watch? Even in defeat he makes opponents play a full four quarters to beat him and the Texans, who are now 5-2 against the spread after covering Sunday in Seattle. Houston needed one last defensive stop versus Russell Wilson and the Seahawks, but couldn’t get it in the final minutes. Wilson threw his fourth touchdown pass of the game to put the Seahawks on top for good, but the Texans still covered as a 6.5-point road underdog. Given the way Watson has played, it won’t be surprising to see Houston emerge as a public favorite from here on out.
New York Jets
Really? The team accused of tanking before the season has been one of the best bets in the NFL this year? It’s true. After covering as a 6.5-point home underdog in a 25-20 loss to the Falcons on Sunday, the Jets are now 5-2-1 against the spread this season. Their matchup on Thursday night against the Bills will be interesting from a bettering standpoint since both AFC East teams cracked this list. New York is currently a 3-point home underdog for that game versus Buffalo.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints and Chiefs are both 5-2 against the spread this year, so keep that in mind as you watch Kansas City take on Denver tonight as a 7-point home favorite. New Orleans has been one of the surprise teams in the NFL this year, largely thanks to a defense that has completely turned around its play. After two weeks, the Saints were 0-2 and people started talking rebuild in New Orleans. Since that point, the Saints have rattled off five straight wins both straight up and against the spread.
