Texans vs. Seahawks Prediction
Are the Seahawks a good bet to cover as a home favorite Sunday afternoon versus the Texans?
Who Oddsmakers Like: Seattle. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Seahawks are now 6.5-point home favorites versus the Texans, who opened as a 6-point underdog earlier this week. As for the total, the number hit the board at 42.5 but has jumped to 45.5 at the majority of online sportsbooks.
Who the Public Likes: Seattle. As of this writing, 55% of public bettors are backing the Seahawks in today’s matchup. Seattle enters play with a 4-2 record and is 3-3 against the spread on the season, while Houston is 3-3 straight up but 4-2 at the betting window in 2017.
Who the Trends Like: Inconclusive. The Texans are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall and are 5-1 at the betting window in their last six games coming off a bye, but are also just 3-7 against the number in their last 10 games when playing a team with a winning record. On the other side, the Seahawks are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight home games and 4-1 against the number in their last five games played in the month of October, but are 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 games played in Week 8.
Who We Like: Seattle. Deshaun Watson is having a tremendous rookie season but the “12th Man” has a tendency to eat visiting quarterbacks alive. Since the start of the 2012 season, the visiting teams are 6-36 in Seattle during the regular season. The Seahawks have outscored opponents by an average margin of 28-13. Visiting signal-callers have also thrown 51 interceptions, have lost 19 fumbles, have been sacked 102 times, and have a passer rating of 70.7. Again, Watson has been on fire since taking over the starting job on a full-time basis in Week 2. But the Seahawks are just starting to click on both sides of the ball and I think this is a tough spot for the rookie. I like the Seahawks to cover the nearly touchdown-sized spread.
