The Buccaneers dropped their exhibition opener 17-9 to the Eagles last Thursday night in Philadelphia. In that game, starter Jameis Winston was 7-of-9 for 97 yards with one touchdown, while Doug Martin rushed five times for 13 yards Russell Shepard caught all three of his targets for 62 yards and a touchdown. Tampa Bay failed to cover as a 3-point road underdog in the game.
The Jaguars also lost their preseason opener, 17-13 to the Jets in East Rutherford. Blake Bortes was 6-of-7 passing for 105 yards while newcomer Chris Ivory rushed six times for 26 yards and a score. Allen Robinson was the leading receiver for Jacksonville, catching all three of his targets for 80 yards in the loss. The Jags failed to cover as a 3-point underdog.

OUR PICK: Both of these teams have the ability to put points on the board and with the starters expected to play at least a quarter, offense should be on display in the first half. Most preseason totals are set between 34 and 36.5 for the first week before oddsmakers bump them up to 40.5 or 41 for the second week. With the total only sitting at 40.5 for tonight’s game, look for the Bucs and Jags to combine for enough points to push the number over.
