Despite being an underdog since the opening odds were released, the New Orleans Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts outright in the 2010 Super Bowl.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com made the Saints a 4.5-point underdog at kickoff of Super Bowl XLIV. Despite their odds, New Orleans beat Indianapolis 31-17 outright, while the combined score went under the posted total of 57.5 points.
Of the 90,000-plus wagers that were placed on Super Bowl XLIV, 57% of bettors favored the Colts –4.5. Things looked great for Indy at the start after it jumped out to an early 10-0 lead, but the Saints dominated the final three quarters in order to wrap up their first Super Bowl victory in franchise history.
