Bears vs. Giants Point Spread
Although the Chicago Bears are undefeated on this new season, they find themselves underdogs on Sunday Night Football against the New York Giants. Read on to check out the latest point spread.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Giants a 3.5-point favorite for tonight’s Sunday Night Football game with the Bears. The over/under total for this Week 4 game has been set at 44.
The public apparently sees the Bears as a value tonight, because of the 52,605 wagers on Sunday night’s game, 65% of bettors favor Chicago at +3.5. Usually the public sides with the favorite, but bettors seem to prefer getting points with the undefeated team.
Thanks to new offensive coordinator Mike Martz, the Bears rank 5th in the league in passing yards. Of course, thanks to Martz, they also rank 29th in rushing yards and are averaging just 72 yards per game. Defensively, the Bears have the best run defense in the league, but the 28th pass defense.
The Giants rank 9th in passing yards and fourth in pass defense, but have struggled mightily with turnovers in every game this season. They turned the ball over four times in a 31-18 win over the Panthers in Week 1, three times in a 38-14 loss to the Colts on Sunday Night Football, and thrice more in a 29-10 loss to the Titans last Sunday.
Those backing the Bears will love this trend: the road team in this series is 5-0 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two franchises. The Bears are also 4-1 against the number in their last five games against the NFC and 4-1 in their last five overall.
Can the Bears stay undefeated in 2010 or will the Giants rebound after losing two straight? If they are to rebound, Eli Manning and Co. will have to stop turning the ball over and force a couple takeaways themselves. If not, a 1-3 start for the G-Men is a definite possibility.
