Pierre Thomas Prop Odds
Pierre Thomas has had made a marginal impact for the New Orleans Saints so far in the playoffs, but how big of a role will he play on Super Bowl Sunday?
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have complied prop odds on Pierre Thomas for Super Bowl XLIV, which include rushing yards and even the MVP award. Oddsmakers have also made New Orleans a 6-point underdog against the Indianapolis Colts for the NFL title game.
Thomas rushed for 793 yards and six touchdowns on 147 carries in 2009, while averaging 5.4 yards per carry. Many thought that he would have a bigger impact for the Saints this season, but the emergence of Mike Bell limited Thomas’ opportunities.
Against the Cardinals in the Divisional Round, Thomas racked up 52 yards on 13 carries but no touchdowns. He did reach the end zone twice (one rushing, one receiving) in the NFC Championship Game against the Vikings, however, and also chipped in 61 yards on 14 carries. He has six receptions for 56 yards in the playoffs.
Thomas’ success might tie into what kind of weather Miami gets on Sunday. It’s not supposed to rain on game day, but the field has received plenty of rain this week and the city is expected to get a few showers on Saturday as well. If the turf is a little sloppy, the Saints might want to keep the ball on the ground more than people think.
Of course, one of the misnomers about New Orleans’ offense is that it only throws the ball, yet Sean Payton is more than committed to the run. With Bell falling out of favor over the past couple weeks, Thomas could make a big impact on the 2010 Super Bowl and cash in for bettors willing to risk money on several of his “over” prop wagers.
