Colts at Rams Pick
The St. Louis Rams are still searching for their first victory of 2009. But it may not come in Week 7, as they host the Indianapolis Colts at 1:00PM ET on Sunday.
The Colts were off last week, but defeated the Titans 31-9 in Week 4. In that game, Peyton Manning threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns, while Austin Collie hauled in eight passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns as the Colts covered as 3-point favorites.
The Rams gave a great effort last week in Jacksonville before falling to the Jaguars 23-20 in overtime. Marc Bulger threw for 213 yards with a touchdown and an interception, while Steven Jackson rushed for 50 yards on 16 carries as St. Louis covered as 9.5-point favorites.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Colts 14-point favorites against the Rams on Sunday. The over/under total for this game has been set at 45 points.
The Rams simply don’t have the manpower to hang with the Colts for four quarters. Their defense has actually played well at times this season, but Indianapolis is well rested and should give the Rams’ defensive backfield all it can handle.
Indianapolis’ defense has been aggressive this season and will be fast on the turf at the Edward Jones Dome. The Rams will have trouble keeping defensive end Dwight Freeney off of Bulger.
Usually we like taking the home underdog, but the Rams don’t have enough overall depth to matchup with the Colts, who should build a lead early and sustain it throughout the game.
