Bengals vs. Falcons Free Pick
One week after being slammed by the Eagles, the Falcons look to regroup against a non-conference foe when they host the Bengals this Sunday at 1:00PM ET. Read on to check out the point spread in this week 7 NFL matchup, as well as our free pick.
Before we get to our free pick, let’s take a look at the current point spread for this game.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Falcons a 3.5-point favorite over the Bengals in Week 7. The over/under total for this game is currently 43.5 points.
The Bengals are 2-3 straight up this year and have failed to cover in three of those five games. They’re also 1-2 on the road this season and have failed to cover in all but one of those three contests away from their home stadium.
Atlanta is 4-2 overall but just 3-3 against the spread, including a 1-1 ATS mark at home. They are, however, undefeated at the Georgia Dome this year with wins over the Cardinals and 49ers.
Our Pick:
The Eagles laid out the blue print on how to beat the Falcons last Sunday: Stop the run and force Matt Ryan to get out of rhythm. Offensively, attack the edges and make the Falcons’ front seven pay for being too aggressive.
Unfortunately for the Bengals, they’re allowing over 110 yards per game on the ground this year and could have trouble stopping Michael Turner and Jason Snelling. If those backs get going, Ryan is dangerous and can find open receivers Roddy White, Tony Gonzalez, Michael Jenkins and Harry Douglas. Cincinnati also likes to line up and go toe-to-toe with opponents, which plays into the Falcons’ strengths defensively. Our pick is Atlanta in this one, as we expect the Falcons to bounce back from a disappointing Week 6 effort.
