Eagles vs. Lions Prediction
Can the Detroit Lions put up any fight to stop the Philadelphia Eagles from remaining unbeaten when they meet up today at 1PM ET?
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Eagles are favored on the road in this game, as they are getting odds of -3 points against the Lions. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 46 points. The Eagles have won seven of the last nine meetings with Detroit, but the Lions are 3-1 against the spread in the last four meetings.
The Eagles are coming off the bye week but enter this game at 3-0 on the season and 3-0 against the spread. Philly comes into this game allowing just 9 points and 298.3 yards per game with one of the top defenses in the NFL. They rank third in the NFL in yards allowed per contest and first in fewest points per game. The unit has 10 sacks and six turnovers in three games. Their strength has been stopping the run, allowing just 71 yards per game on the ground. When it comes to offense, Philly is putting up 30.7 points and 375.7 yards per game. Carson Wentz has looked very comfortable as the starting quarterback, as the rookie has thrown for 769 yards and five touchdowns without an interception.
The Lions are coming off a 17-14 loss in Chicago for their third straight loss to fall to 1-3 on the season and 1-3 against the spread. The Lions are now averaging 23.8 points and 391.8 yards per game on offense after a lackluster showing against the Bears’ defense a week ago. The Lions don’t have much of a ground game with Ameer Abdullah on IR, averaging just 92.3 rushing yards per game. Matthew Stafford has thrown for 1,198 yards and seven touchdowns to lead the team, but now has four interceptions on the season after throwing two last week. Defensively, the Lions are banged up and giving up 25.5 points and 397 yards per game. The Lions will once again be without Ezekiel Ansah at defensive end and DeAndre Levy at linebacker due to lingering injuries.

Given how much the Lions struggled against the Bears, I expect those struggles to continue against the Eagles, who have a much better unit. The Lions looked lost last week on offense and will be without Abdullah and Eric Ebron. Detroit can’t stop anyone right now on defense either, so Wentz should be able to easily construct some scoring drives in this one.
