INDIANAPOLIS: The Colts have been on a tear recently against the spread. After failing to cover as a 3.5-point underdog in New York four weeks ago, Indy has covered in three straight games. They beat the Browns as a 1-point home favorite in Week 7, covered as a 3.5-point road favorite in a 19-13 overtime win over the Titans in Week 8, and covered as a 2.5-point home favorite in a 23-20 victory over the Dolphins last Sunday. In the victory, Andrew Luck broke Cam Newton’s record for passing yards for a rookie in a single game. He completed 30-of-48 passes for 433 yards and two touchdowns.
JACKSONVILLE: On the other side, the Jaguars have covered in two of their last three games but were blown out by the Lions last weekend. Jacksonville failed to cover as a 6-point home underdog in a 31-14 loss, but the Jags did cover as a 6-point road dog in a 26-23 loss to the Raiders in Week 7 and as a 16-point road dog in a 24-15 loss to the Packers two weeks ago. Maurice Jones-Drew continues to be sidelined with a sprained foot and he won’t play tonight.
ODDS: Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv have installed the Colts as 3-point favorites over the Jaguars, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 42.5 points. Indianapolis enters the game with a 5-3 record and is 1-2 on the road this year, while Jacksonville is 1-7 overall and 0-4 at home.
TRENDS: The over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings in Jacksonville and the road team is 8-3 against the spread in the last 11 meetings between these two teams. The Colts, meanwhile, are 1-4 against the spread in their last five meetings.
