Chiefs at Raides Prediction
Will the Raiders get out of their current funk with a huge win tonight against the Chiefs at 8:25PM ET?
Who Oddsmakers Like: Kansas City. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Chiefs are 3-point road favorites versus the Raiders, who opened as a 2.5-point home underdog. As for the total, the number hit the board at 47.5 but was bet down to 46.5 at the majority of online sports books.
Who Public Bettors Like: Kansas City. They love the Chiefs, in fact. As of this writing, 76% of the betting tickets are on Kansas City minus the points. This information is subject to change, however, so make sure you click on the link provided to ensure you’re getting the most updated information.
Who the Trends Like: Kansas City. The Chiefs are 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams and are 11-3 at the betting window in their last 14 games in Oakland. The road team has also dominated this series, covering in 21 of the last 28 games between these two rivals. The Raiders, meanwhile, are winless at 0-4 against the spread in their last four games overall and have failed to cover in seven of their last 10 games played on Thursday night.
WHO COVERS: Oakland. Even though everything above says to lay the points with Kansas City, which is arguably the best team in football, I see too much value in the home underdog. First and foremost, the Raiders are desperate. They’ve dropped a few in a row and they can’t drop to 2-5 in the AFC West where the Chiefs and Broncos are both playing well. The injuries are piling up for Kansas City. Eric Berry is out for the year, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and linemate Mitch Morse are out tonight with injuries. Steven Nelson will also miss the game with an abdomen injury and Albert Wilson is questionable with a leg ailment. The Raiders have to get their offense going because it’s been a big problem to start the year, but I have a feeling Derek Carr will put together a solid game. (It would be nice if Amari Cooper could hang onto the ball, too.) If Oakland doesn’t win outright, I like the Raiders to at least push as a home dog.
