Jaguars at Hawks Pick
The Seattle Seahawks might have their starting quarterback back under center this Sunday when they host the Jacksonville Jaguars at 4:15PM ET.
The Jaguars improved to 2-2 on the season with a 37-17 win over the Titans as 3-point underdogs. David Garrard threw three touchdown passes in the victory.
The Seahawks dropped to 1-3 on the year after losing to the Colts 34-17 in Week 4 as a 12-point underdog. Seneca Wallace threw for 257 yards and a touchdown on 33-of-45 passing in the loss.
Oddsmakers from online sports book BetOnline have made the Seahawks 1-point home favorites over the Jaguars on Sunday.
The health status of Matt Hasselbeck is still up in the air, although he should play after practicing this week. The Seahawks are a different team with him under center than Wallace, who continues to struggle in a starting role.
The Jaguars are an improving team. They have a solid quarterback in Garrard, a great running game in Maurice Jones-Drew and a now-healthy offensive line. But the defense still has major question marks, even after their blow out win over the Titans last week.
If Hasselbeck is healthy and ready to go (and by all accounts, it looks like he is), then we like Seattle to earn its second victory of the season. No matter who starts at quarterback for the Seahawks, Seattle has always been a tough place to play for opponents given the atmosphere and noise generated by the crowd at Qwest Field. We don’t see Jacksonville traveling West and earning a win in that environment.
Our NFL Week 5 Free Pick for this matchup is: SEATTLE SEAHAWKS –1.
