Who is going No. 1 tonight?
The 2019 NFL Draft finally takes place tonight with its first round. Will another Oklahoma quarterback go first in tonight’s event?
According to the latest oddsmakers, Kyler Murray is listed at -375 to be the first player taken by the Arizona Cardinals tonight. Other odds are Nick Bosa (+375), Quinnen Williams (+450) and Josh Allen (+3300). The first round of the NFL Draft takes place tonight at 8PM ET and will air live on ABC, ESPN and the NFL Network.
The Cardinals own the top pick tonight and many have pegged Murray as their selection, as new head coach Kliff Kingsbury is very offense driven and seems to be infatuated with the 2018 Heisman winner. However, some give pause to the idea because the Cardinals actually traded up in the first round last year to pick Josh Rosen. Rosen struggled in his rookie season, throwing for 2,278 yards and 11 touchdowns with 14 interceptions. However, the Cardinals were a mess as a team, which played a role in his struggles as well.
Murray is coming off a college season where he threw for 4,361 yards and 42 touchdowns with just seven interceptions. He also rushed for 1,001 yards and 12 touchdowns. His size, 5’10”, is a concern, but his mobility and short-pass accuracy make him look like a potential star in the NFL. It’s not out of the realm of possibilities that Arizona could trade the top pick to a team that would like to land Murray as well.
Both Bosa and Williams are defensive lineman. Bosa is a defensive end from Ohio State while Williams is a defensive tackle from Alabama. Both are largely considered the top players in the draft on the defensive front. Josh Allen is a linebacker from Kentucky that is a dynamic talent.
