Packers vs. Cowboys Prediction
The Packers will be an underdog today in Dallas when they take on the Cowboys at 4:40PM ET in the Divisional round. Will Green Bay cover?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Cowboys are now 5.5-point home favorites versus the Packers after they opened as a 4-point favorite immediately following Wildcard Weekend. As for the total, the number hit the board at 51.5 before jumping to 52.
GREEN BAY KEY TRENDS: The Packers are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games overall, are 5-1 against the number in conference play and are a perfect 4-0 against the spread in their last four games in January. They’re also a perfect 4-0 at the betting window in their last four playoff games and are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven postseason road games.
DALLAS KEY TRENDS: The Cowboys are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven home games but are just 3-7 against the number in their last 10 home playoff games. They’re also 1-4 against the spread in their last five games in January, 1-5 against the number in their last six games overall and are 1-5 at the betting window in their last six conference games.
OUR PREDICTION: The Packers are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six games in Dallas while the home team has covered in 10 of the last 14 meetings between these two teams. But I’m going to buck those trends and take the Pack. First and foremost, Aaron Rodgers is hot and if this game comes down to the final possession, I don’t trust the Cowboys’ defense to come up with a big stop against the hottest quarterback in the league. Jordy Nelson’s absence will have an impact and the Cowboys can control the pace of this game with Ezekiel Elliott and their rushing attack, but I still like Green Bay to stay within the number. Also, the favorite is now 6-0 against the spread this NFL playoffs after the Falcons (-6.5) and Patriots (-16) both covered on Saturday. The underdog is due.
NFL DIVISIONAL ROUND PREDICTION: GREEN BAY PACKERS +5.5
