Seahawks’ 2014 Win Total Odds
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – Coming off a Super Bowl victory, what kind of success will the Seattle Seahawks have in 2014?
Seeing as how they won the Super Bowl in February the Seahawks didn’t need to make many roster moves this offseason. They did add depth to their offensive and defensive lines with the signings of free agents Kevin Williams and Steve Schilling, as well as to their cornerback corps with the addition of former Raider Phillip Adams.
Among the team’s free agent losses were receiver Golden Tate, cornerbacks Brandon Browner and Walter Thurmond, and offensive linemen Breno Giacomini and Paul McQuistan. Defensive ends Red Bryant and Chris Clemons, who both signed deals with Jacksonville, were released.
The Seahawks wound up not having a first-round pick in May’s draft after trading the selection to the Vikings in exchange for Minnesota’s second and fourth-round picks. The Vikes used the pick to select Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, while the Hawks used the 45th overall selection (their first of the draft) on Colorado receiver Paul Richardson. Seattle’s second-round pick was Missouri offensive tackle Justin Britt while the team’s three fourth-round selections were UCLA defensive end Cassius Marsh, Alabama receiver Kevin Norwood, and Boston College linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis.
So many games will the Seahawks win in 2014? According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Seattle’s win total for the regular season has been set at 11. With Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch and Percy Harvin returning on offense, as well as Earl Thomas, Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor on defense, there’s no reason to bet against Pete Carroll’s team in 2014. That said, bettors need to be aware of the dreaded Super Bowl hangover and the Hawks do play in the toughest division in football. Seattle should be able to repeat its regular season success from 2013 in 2014 but be weary of a drop-off when betting the over 11.
