New England Patriots DFS Spin
Cam Newton completed 15-of-25 passes for 174 yards in the Patriots’ Week 8 loss to the Bills, adding nine carries for 54 yards and a touchdown. Newton posted an adequate day as a fantasy player because of his rushing output but his day will be remembered by a single play. He lost a fumble in the red zone on New England’s final offensive play. The Patriots could have tied with a field goal or won with a score. Instead, the Bills were able to ice the game with a few kneels. Newton was without Julian Edelman and N’Keal Harry. The lack of weapons was apparent as Newton only completed five passes that went for more than 10 yards. The Patriots only have two wins on the season while Buffalo is sitting pretty with six wins. Newton is a rushing-dependent QB2 going forward.
New York Jets DFS Spin
Sam Darnold (shoulder) is doubtful for Week 9 against the Patriots. Joe Flacco will start Monday night’s game. Per coach Adam Gase, Darnold was “having issues throwing on Friday and the ball was not coming out like normal.” Darnold’s injury is supposedly just a minor aggravation of his early-season shoulder issue, but it’s never a great sign when a quarterback has a lingering shoulder ailment. Darnold’s seemingly make-or-break third season has been thoroughly broken under clueless coach Adam Gase, at least so far. Even with the Patriots struggling, Flacco offers zero Week 9 upside.
Patriots vs. Jets Betting Prediction
The under has cashed in seven of the last eight meetings between these two teams and is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams at MetLife Stadium. The under is also a perfect 4-0 in the Patriots’ last four games played on Monday Night Football, is 4-1 in their last five games when favored and is 15-6 in their last 21 games when they’re favored on the road. On the other side, the under is 4-0 in the Jets’ last four games overall, is 5-0 in their last five games when they’re listed as an underdog and is 4-0 in their last four games coming off a loss of more than 14 points.
