Detroit Lions DFS Spin
Matthew Stafford completed just 17-of-31 passes for 206 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in the Lions’ 35-29, Week 4 loss to the Saints. The Saints were playing without their top two corners in Marshon Lattimore and Janoris Jenkins, who were both out with injuries. Completing just 54.8% of his throws at 6.6 yards per attempt is pretty disappointing for Stafford considering the losses of those two. The Lions jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead on the back of D’Andre Swift and Kenny Golladay touchdown catches sandwiched around a Drew Brees interception, but it was all Saints after that with 35 straight points. Stafford’s third touchdown was a goal-liner to T.J. Hockenson after Marvin Jones drew a long pass interference call. Stafford has three-straight multi-touchdown games but has yet to top 300 yards this season. The Lions have their bye ahead of a Week 6 date with the Jaguars.
Jacksonville Jaguars DFS Spin
Gardner Minshew completed 31-of-49 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns in Week 5 against the Texans. The stats look good, but Minshew took three sacks and also lost a costly fourth quarter fumble. It’s the third straight loss for the Jaguars after opening the season with a win over the Colts. Minshew is averaging 326 yards with a 4:1 TD/INT ratio over the last two games, but that’s mostly come from Jacksonville chasing second-half points. With D.J. Chark leaving with an ankle injury, Minshew may have a downgraded supporting cast for a Week 6 matchup with the Lions.
Lions vs. Jaguars Betting Prediction
The favorite has covered in the last four meetings between these two teams while the Lions are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games when playing in Week 6. The Jags, meanwhile, are just 1-4 against the number in their last five games when playing a team with a losing record, are 2-7 against the spread in their last nine games coming off a loss and are 3-8 at the betting window in their last 11 games coming off a loss of more than 14 points.
