NFL Week 2
Jacksonville Jaguars DFS Spin
Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew completed 19-of-20 passes for 173 yards and three scores, adding five carries for 19 yards in Jacksonville’s 27-20 Week 1 upset over the Colts. Trailing 20-17 with 6:04 remaining in the fourth quarter, Minshew extended the play outside of the pocket — a common theme on Sunday — and hit Keelan Cole (5/47/1) for the 22-yard go-ahead score over Indy. The second-year signal-caller was decisive in Week 1, hitting 10 different receivers and adding fantasy points with his legs. Sunday was arguably Minshew’s toughest test for the next five games as the Jaguars prep to face the Titans, Dolphins, Bengals, Texans, and Lions through Week 6. He’ll be a mid-range QB2 with rushing upside in Tennessee. (and moving forward).
Tennessee Titans DFS Spin
Ryan Tannehill completed 29-of-43 passes for 249 yards and two touchdowns in the Titans’ 16-14, Week 1 win over the Broncos. Tannehill never attempted 40 passes in any start last season, but the Titans ran a whopping 78 plays in this one, and Tannehill was able to guide a game-winning drive that ended in a short Stephen Gostkowski field goal after missing three kicks prior to that one. Tannehill added 14 rushing yards. His two touchdown passes went to TEs Jonnu Smith and MyCole Pruitt, both of the one-yard variety, while Corey Davis and A.J. Brown each saw a team-high eight targets. Tannehill will be a back-end QB1 for Week 2 against the Jaguars after he went 14-of-18 for 259 yards and two touchdowns with 7-40-2 rushing in one start against them last season.
Jaguars vs. Titans Betting Prediction
The Jaguars haven’t had much success covering in this matchup, posting a 0-4-1 ATS record in their previous five trips to Nashville and going 1-5 against the number in their last six meetings with the Titans overall. The home team is also 8-2-1 against the spread in the last 11 meetings between these two teams while the favorite has gone 7-3-1 against the number in the last 11 games. Derrick Henry should find plenty of running room against a Jacksonville defense that had issues containing Indy running backs Jonathan Taylor and Nyhiem Hynes last week and unfortunately for the Jags, Tannehill is unlikely to give JAX some freebies like Colts’ signal-caller Philip Rivers did last Sunday in their upset victory.
NFL WEEK 2 BETTING PREDICTION: TENNESSEE TITANS -7.5
