Big TD day for Cam?
Can Cam Newton continue his MVP campaign and keep the Carolina Panthers undefeated when they face the New Orleans Saints today?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Panthers are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -6.5 points against the Saints. The over/under total for the game has been set at 50 points. These two meet today at 4:25PM ET on FOX.
Newton has the Panthers (11-0, 9-2 ATS) on the verge of already clinching a division title with a win today and he has a very favorable matchup this afternoon. The Saints (4-7, 4-6-1 ATS) have given up more touchdown passes than any team in the NFL, allowing 30 while intercepting just five passes in 2015. That could mean big things for Newton, who has 20 touchdown passes this season. Last week’s win against Dallas was the first time Newton didn’t have a touchdown pass in a game this season. Oddsmakers have listed his over/under for TD passes today at 1.5. Newton has had multiple TD passes in six games this year, including two in a 27-22 win at New Orleans back on Sept. 27.
The Saints will also have to keep an eye on Newton’s running ability. He has 427 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns this season. The Saints have allowed two rushing touchdowns to quarterbacks this year, one of which was from Newton in the first meeting. Newton has been given odds of -185 to score a touchdown with his legs today and odds of +600 to score the first touchdown with his legs.
