Bengals vs. Texans Prediction
Are the Bengals a good bet to cover against the Texans tonight when the two teams meet at 8:25PM ET on Christmas Eve?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Texans are 1.5-point home favorites versus the Bengals while the over/under currently sits at 41.5 points. Houston did open as a 3-point favorite before the number was bet down to 1.5, while the total opened at 41 before jumping slightly to 41.5.
CINCINNATI KEY TRENDS: The Bengals are 10-2-2 at the betting window in their last 14 games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous contest and are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games played in the month of December. That said, they have struggled to cover on the road, going 1-5 against the number in their last six games away from Cincinnati and are also winless at 0-7-1 ATS in their last eight games versus an opponent with a winning record.
HOUSTON KEY TRENDS: The Texans have failed to cover in four of their last five games overall, are 1-3-1 against the number in their last five games versus a team with a losing record and are 1-5 ATS in their last six games coming off a win. On the positive side, they’re 10-1-1 against the spread in their last 12 games after accumulating less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game and are 20-6-2 ATS in their last 28 games after accumulating more than 350 total yards in their previous contest.
OUR PREDICTION: Tom Savage gave the Texans a jolt last week when he rallied the team to a come-from-behind win over the Jaguars, but let’s pump the breaks on his ability to save Houston’s season. The Bengals had an opportunity to game plan for Savage this week and with running back Lamar Miller iffy, I’m willing to bet Houston becomes a one-dimensional offense tonight. The Bengals’ loss last week t the Steelers stung, but they should continue to play hard for Marvin Lewis, whose job is seemingly on the line over these next two weeks.
