Bills vs. Jets Prediction
Will the Jets pull off a small upset tonight when they host the Bills at 8:25PM ET for Thursday night football?
Game Information
Matchup: Bills (5-2) at Jets (3-5)
TV: NFL Network, 8:25PM ET
Odds: Bills +3 (42.5)
Who Oddsmakers Like: Buffalo. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Bills are 3-point road favorites to beat the Jets, who opened as 3.5-point home underdogs. As for the total, the number hit the board at 42 but was bet up to 42.5 at the majority of online sportsbooks.
Who the Public Likes: Buffalo. As of Thursday morning, over 60% of the tickets for tonight’s game are on the Bills minus the points.
Who the Trends Like: Conflicted. The under is 5-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams but the over has cashed in five of the last seven meetings in East Rutherford. The Bills are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games against the Jets but the home team is 8-3 at the betting window in the last 11 meetings and the underdog has hit in four of the last five meetings in this series.
Who We Like: New York. The Jets are unbeaten at the betting window in their last six games, going 5-0-1 against the number and 4-0 against the spread in their four home games. Buffalo handled New York in the opening week of the season but this is an unfamiliar role for the Bills, who are just 1-5-1 against the spread since 2014 when laying points on the road.
The Bills are a solid squad under Sean McDermott but they were aided by four Oakland turnovers a week ago despite being out-gained 367-331 in their victory over the Raiders. At some point the ball will start to bounce the other way. Perhaps that will be tonight against a divisional opponent in the Jets that are 5-1 against the spread in their last six AFC East matchups. The Bills are just 1-5 against the number on Thursday nights following a win, while the Jets are 4-1 at the betting window as a Thursday night dog.
